Online Learning FAQs
Whether you're booking online training for yourself, developing the skills of a small team or managing learning across a large organisation, it's natural to have questions.
Below you'll find answers to some of the most common questions about our online training courses, certification, course access, accreditation, learning times and corporate training options.
With courses covering Workplace Safety, Construction, HR & Management, Sales & Customer Service, AI & IT Skills, Schools & Childcare and Food Safety, ELS provides flexible online learning for individuals and organisations of all sizes.
If you can't find the answer you're looking for, please contact us — we're always happy to help.
1. How do online training courses work?
Online training allows you to complete your learning remotely using a computer, tablet or compatible mobile device.
With Elite Lifesaving Skills, learners can access a wide range of online courses covering topics including Workplace Health & Safety, Construction, Food Safety, HR & Management, Sales & Customer Service, AI & IT Skills, and Schools & Childcare.
Online learning gives you the flexibility to complete training around work and other commitments, making it suitable for both individual learners and organisations training employees.
Course content, assessments, duration and certification can vary depending on the course selected.
If you're unsure which online training course is right for you or your organisation, contact ELS and we'll help you explore the available options.
2. Do I receive a certificate after completing an online course?
Certification is available for successful completion of our online training courses, with the exact certification depending on the course selected.
Many courses within our e-learning catalogue also carry approvals or recognition from relevant training and industry organisations. These vary between courses, so you should check the individual course information before booking if a particular approval is required.
Our online training covers areas including health and safety, food safety, construction, management, customer service, digital skills and education.
For businesses, online certification can also provide a useful record of employee learning and professional development.
If your workplace requires a specific qualification rather than an online awareness or training course, please contact us before booking.
3. Are ELS online courses accredited or approved?
Many of our online training courses carry approval or recognition from organisations such as CPD, IIRSM, IOSH, the Institute of Hospitality and other relevant bodies.
However, approvals differ from course to course.
For this reason, we clearly display the applicable approval information alongside individual courses wherever relevant rather than suggesting that every ELS online course carries the same accreditation.
If you're purchasing training to meet a particular workplace, industry or contractual requirement, check the individual course details or speak to ELS before booking.
We'll help you identify a suitable training option for your requirements.
4. Can I complete online training on my phone or tablet?
Our online training is designed to provide flexible access, allowing learners to study remotely using compatible computers, tablets and mobile devices.
This makes e-learning particularly useful for employees who need to fit training around shifts, work commitments or other responsibilities.
Learners can complete their training without needing to attend a traditional classroom for courses that are suitable for fully online delivery.
For organisations, this also makes online employee training easier to deliver across different teams and locations.
Some courses or qualifications may still require practical or face-to-face training, so always check the individual course requirements.
5. How long do online training courses take?
The length of an online training course depends on the subject and level of training.
Our e-learning catalogue includes shorter awareness courses as well as more detailed programmes that can take several hours to complete.
Estimated course durations are displayed alongside the individual course information, helping learners and employers plan training around their working day.
This flexibility makes online learning suitable for individual professional development, employee induction, refresher training and wider workplace training programmes.
Browse the relevant training category to compare available courses and estimated learning times.
6. Can businesses buy online training for multiple employees?
Yes. Elite Lifesaving Skills provides online training for individual employees, small businesses, growing teams and larger organisations.
Businesses can choose training across multiple subjects, allowing different employees and departments to complete courses relevant to their roles.
Our course range includes workplace safety, construction, food safety, management, customer service, AI and digital skills, and education-related training.
Whether you're looking to train a small team on one subject or need multiple courses across your organisation, contact ELS to discuss your requirements.
Corporate and bulk training enquiries are welcome.
7. Can ELS provide online training for large companies?
Yes. Our online training solutions can support requirements ranging from 1 learner to 10,000+ employees.
This makes ELS suitable for individual learners and SMEs as well as larger businesses and organisations looking to coordinate training across multiple teams, departments or locations.
With a broad catalogue of online courses, organisations can select different training subjects based on employee roles and workplace requirements rather than providing the same course to everyone.
For larger requirements, contact us directly with your approximate learner numbers and the subjects you're interested in.
We can then discuss suitable corporate and bulk online training options.

9.Does online training replace face-to-face or practical training?
Not in every situation.
Online training can be an excellent way to develop knowledge, complete awareness training and refresh existing skills. However, certain workplace activities and qualifications may require practical assessment, hands-on training or face-to-face instruction.
For example, completing an online awareness course should not automatically be treated as equivalent to a practical qualification where practical competency is required.
Elite Lifesaving Skills also provides face-to-face First Aid, Lifesaving and Workplace Safety training, allowing us to help organisations consider both online and practical training options.
If you're unsure whether online learning is appropriate for your requirements, contact us before booking.
10. Which online training course does my business need?
The right training depends on your organisation, industry, employee roles, workplace risks and the skills or knowledge your team needs to develop.
For example, a hospitality business may require Food Safety and Allergen Awareness training, while an office-based organisation may be interested in Workplace Health & Safety, Display Screen Equipment, Fire Safety, Management, Cyber Security or AI training.
Larger organisations may require different courses across several departments.
ELS provides training across a broad range of subjects, so you don't necessarily need to manage separate training providers for every area.
If you're unsure where to start, tell us about your organisation, the roles you're training and approximately how many learners you have.
From 1 learner to 10,000+ employees, we'll help you explore the most appropriate training options.
